Tips for Healthy Dyed Hair

I used to be the WORST at making sure I looked after my hair as I started to hate it. The length wasn't right, it looked limp, lifeless and just wouldn't do anything. To me, everyday was a bad hair day. But then I got an amazing hairdresser who sorted it out and made it look the best it possibly could getting rid of all the damage and giving me so many tips of how to make sure it never got as damaged and frazzled again and I took them and got into a routine (which I would happily do an updated post on). I then decide to dye my hair, which you can find a post on HERE, so looking after my locks to prevent fading lead to me testing out a lot of products including my hairdressers recommendations.
Tip 1: Colour Shampoo - As I dyed my hair blonde I have been using purple shampoo's but with dyed hair I think its very important to use a shampoo specifically for colour treated hair to prevent fading and most also give moisture to prevent hair looking dry. The first time I slightly lightened my hair a year ago I used Provoke's Touch of Silver Shampoo but to be honest my hair probably wasn't blonde enough to notice a difference or it just didn't work very well so I decided to branch out and use Lee Stafford's Bleach Blondes once a week which prevents brassy, yellow tones and I also finds brightens my hair. I also use John Frieda's sheer blonde treatment which gives the salon shine back to hair. This is also really conditioning and definitely brightens up the blonde even though the smell isn't the best.

Tip 2: Less Heat - I used to straighten my hair EVERYDAY. Which was incredibly bad especially as my hair rarely even kinks. I now never use them and to be honest hate the look of my hair when it has been straightened which I never thought I would say. I would say this tip applied to anyone but due to coloured hair being more dry it leads to higher breakage and damage.

Tip 3: Wash your hair less often - I hate my hair for the fact it gets oily super quickly and easily which can lead to washing it everyday which is very bad but I have managed to cut down to washing it 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) then occasionally in between if I am going out somewhere I need to dress up for. Dry shampoo is probably my saviour along with buns and plaits but washing your hair less will preventing the colour fading as quick.

Tip 4: Products - I get through so many hair masks, oils and hydration mists that my hair must be more hydrated than me. My particular favourites are the Garnier Honey Treasures Serum and OGX's hydrating coconut water. I usually put the serum on wet hair and the coconut water on when its dry and both make my hair so soft, shiny and tangle free which also reduces breakage when brushing and generally makes stronger, healthier hair.

What hair hacks do you swear by?

Dungaree Day OOTD

Dungaree's have quickly become my favourite thing to wear as they make any outfit look like you've put in a bit more effort than just jeans leading to wearing dungaree's on a daily basis.

These dungarees are from Newlook for £28 with a frayed hem giving a distressed look but are a slim fit on the legs which I was super happy about as I could never find any skinny fit jean dungaree's instead of the typical 'mom' style which looks fab on some people but just not on me. I then paired it with a simple striped tee which maybe leads to me looking like an overgrown five-year-old but I absolutely love the look especially then even more casual with a pair of white converse. However, I did jazz up the outfit with these super cute cuff style earrings from h&m costing just £5.99. I am obsessed with wearing dungarees and make me feel like I have put effort into my outfit opposed to basic jeans.

April Favourites

Usually I'm one to say the month has flew by but this month seems to have gone quite slow but it was actually really nice as I began to appreciate the smaller moments instead of letting life fly past but it also led to me loving quite a few things from makeup to random 'life' items.

The first thing I have been loving is the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer which is amazing at concealing and highlighting under the eye. Although I know the brush applicator isn't everyone's favourite but I love how easy it makes application and the colour suits my skin tone perfectly.

Secondly, another Rimmel product that if you have read my blog for a while you would know I'm an avid lover of the Kate Moss lipstick range but this one has sat in my draw for quite a while despite the beautiful nude tone. Its a creamy formula so is really comfortable on the lips and probably only needs reapplying once throughout the day.

I have also been obsessed with Eylure Cheryl's First Date lashes, again these are something I had in my draw for quite a while until I looked through my collection as my friend wanted to know some more natural lashes and I realised why I loved these so much leading to repurchasing a few boxes just in case they get ruined or lost so they definitely deserve to be a favourite.

My final beauty favourite is the Lee Stafford Purple Shampoo which was recommended by my hairdresser when I dyed my hair blonde and so far it is doing a very good job keeping my blonde like its freshly done.

I don't often include a fashion favourite but I  have been living in dungaree's and specifically a pair from Newlook which are a skinny fit which I love compared to most which appear to always be 'mom' jeans which just do not suit me. I have been pairing it with a basic t-shirt underneath and it looks like I have put effort in every morning.

Onto random items; they of course revolve around chocolate as I really don't hide the fact I am incredibly unhealthy (even though I really don't promote it!) but you also probably won't believe that after 17 nearly 18 years alive I had never tried Nutella! I have been loving it with fruit and cannot stop eating it! Is there anyone else who just hasn't tried it or not until recently or am I just plain weird?! I have also been loving the slightly childish chocolate bar of Cadbury's Curly Wurly which I don't even know where my obsession came from but I there is now a constant stock of them in my house!

For tv programmes I have been getting into a few series in April however they have both sadly finished but available to watch on demand and they are Clique and Broadchurch. Clique is a mystery/drama about girls who go to university and everything in the Clique isn't quite as it appears. Whilst Broadchurch was the final series which breaks my hear as it is possibly my all time favourite programme ever and I recommend all 3 seasons.

What have you been loving this month?

Drugstore Haul | Make up, Skincare and Hair!

If you read my 'Current Drugstore Favourites' post (link here) you would know my drugstore obsession that got me into makeup in the first place was partly back since I discovered so many good items which led to a good splurge to see any products new in and repurchasing those old favourites.
The first products just so happen to all be related to eyelashes. The first product I picked up and the initial reason for going to Boots was the L'Oreal Volume Million lashes mascara, I won't talk too much about this as I mentioned it in the post linked above but this is my favourite drugstore mascara due to the amazing volume and how it holds a curl. The waterproof of this is also fantastic. Due to my love for that L'Oreal Mascara and the fact I have been loving falsies recently I picked up the L'Oreal False Lash Architect Mascara which front eh description looks like it should add fibres and therefore volume and length however I haven't tried this yet so will probably update you in a favourites if I love it!

As I mentioned I have been loving falsies so repurchased my fave pack of Eylure ones which are the Cheryl First date ones which give a lovely natural look. I usually have to cut them down slightly but apart from that they are so easy to apply too. I also picked up an eyelash glue to test out as I love the one that comes with the lashes but felt a different brands may last longer and this duo eyelash glue has been very hyped about across the blogging world so I can't wait to try this.
I also picked up a the Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation as I love the concealer and this claimed long wearing and high coverage which are two things I look for in a foundation. I have only used this twice since buying it and although it lasts a fair while it does need setting a tiny bit on my forehead about half way through the day especially if I have been at work. I also love the fact it contains SPF as it is heading into summer.

I also repurchased The Body Shop Tea Tree Primer as I use it everyday as its the only primer that doesn't break me out. It also helps the appearance of my makeup look better overall.

I was after a new under eye concealer so picked up the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer which I have started to use and has quickly become the one I reach for on a daily basis due its amazing coverage and highlighting. I wouldn't use this on blemishes though due to the highlighting aspect but it doesn't cake or crease and blends out super well.

Finally for makeup I picked up the Eylure Brow Pomade in Dark Brown and although I am now starting to think it is too dark from the swatch I did I have heard good things about it and for only £8 is a bargain compared to the Anastasia Dip brow pomade.

I also picked up some haircare and skincare items including the Colab Dry Shampoo which is the only one I will ever use as it smells gorgeous and doesn't feel to heavy whilst still hiding any grease but also giving texture. I also love the fact it's invisible as with dark roots the ones that leave a white residue are a nightmare to get rid of.

I also repurchased my favourite body wash from The Body Shop in Satsuma as the scent is perfect to get in the mood for the summer. On the same topic of body products I picked up the L'oreal Gradual Glow which is great if like me you are scared to go straight in with fake tan and prefer one that gradually builds. The shade is also perfect for my skin tone and doesn't go patchy or orange.

Finally i picked up the John Frieda Sheer Blonde conditioner mask which claims to make blonder hair more shiny and like its fresh out of the salon so I am very excited to try this as I am on the hunt for products which will make sure the blonde doesn't fade too much too quickly.

Have you tried any of these products?

Summer Primark Haul

Primark has some amazing bargain's at the moment so I decided to update my spring/ summer wardrobe with quite a big shop however everything is of course unbelievably cheap and as always I am seriously impressed with the designs and quality!
I was after a nice pair of shorts as I had none at all and knew if I didn't grab any quick all the good ones would be gone. The shorts were £4 and the fabric is lovely and floaty whilst the detail on the pockets and the hem makes them look so pretty.
I also went for a few basic items including two t-shirts both costing around £4-5. The striped one is made from the softest material and looks fab with jeans or dungarees. The second one is more of a grpahic tee which I don't usually go for but I loved the colour especially half tucked into black skinny jeans. I also decided to try out Pirmark's jeans as I have started to hear a lot about them and I completely agree the fit is amazing! I have also been obsessed with sweaters and the colour of this one is gorgeous and super soft for only £5! I definitely recommend picking one of these up in your next Primark splurge as there were loads of colours.

As I'm getting my wardrobe ready for the summer I picked up two playsuits as they are my go to when the sun comes out! The first one is more of a day-to- day on the beach sort of look with a lovely aztec print and halterneck style which is possibly my favourite neckline. Whilst last but not least my favourite item I have picked up for a very long time is this floral one which has floaty half sleeves  and more of a v-neck which could easily be dressed up or down.

I definitely recommend popping into Primark as they have some amazing pieces!

Current Drugstore Obsessions

Well I'm typing this hoping there's at least one of you left after abandoning this blog for a few weeks and I don't really have an excuse except for a lack of time and just my brain not wanting to write a single thing after the mass A Level workload and just not being in the right frame of mind in general for anything. But I am back, maybe a bit randomly and not regularly but I'm trying and today's post is current drugstore favourites as recently I have seemed to abandon all my high end makeup and became obsessed with a lot of old favourites and a few new goodies.
LA Girl Concealer- I ordered this of Beauty Bay a few ago and the shade put me off from using it as it looked slightly dark for my ghostly skin and therefore orange, however, I had one of those killer spots which just don't disappear and hurt like a *****. You know the ones I mean we all get 'em. So, I pulled this out and it's magical, it just made the spot disappear. I was right about the shade being dark despite getting the lightest but when I blended it out it just matched my skin tone but I don't think if you're paler than me it would work as well. It's perfect for spots as its very high coverage and doesn't cake on blemishes. At £3 I was amazed and its definitely my go to for those very bad skin days.

L' Oreal True Match Powder - I am one of those people who swore by Rimmel Stay Matte Powder during the hype and long after despite feeling like it no longer suited my skin type and caked up quite a bit I just couldn't break away from my first 'love'. BUT... I branched out and OMG this is amazing! I  don't have the oiliest of skin now I am out of the 'main teenage stage' so this still gives my skin a healthy dewy look but my makeup stays on all day and no longer cakes in my t-zone or beneath my eyes.

Seventeen Contour Powder - I have used this on and off since summer until I got the Benefit Hoola Bronzer but I forgot how good the contour shade is in this duo. I'm not so keen on the highlight mainly because it's not shimmery so I don't really get the point to use it to highlight on a daily basis. However, the contour shade is perfect for my skin tone and can easily be blended out but also built up.

L' Oreal Volume Million Lashes - My hairdresser always had amazing eyelashes and of course as I'm always on the hunt for new products I asked and she used this and it's the perfect mascara. It adds amazing length and volume whilst also separating lashes but can easily be built up to a bit more clumpy (in a nice way). I also find as I have the waterproof formula it holds the curl so much better.

L'Oreal La Colour Nude (Beige) - I am usually a bit picky with drugstore shadows as I often find they lack pigment, unblendable or can be a bit chalky but the shades in this were right up my street. I mainly use the matte browns and the shimmery brown near the end and it creates a lovely everyday smokey eye. The pigment isn't as good as a high-end palette in the shimmers however the palette is mainly made up of matte's which are amazing quality for the price.

Rimmel Lip Liner ( East End Snob)- If you have read my blog for a long time, this lip liner is something I have loved for a very long time as its the perfect colour to wear with MAC Mehr which is my go to nude colour. It makes the lipstick last even longer and is great for slightly overlining my lips. I also find the formula isn't too drying too.

Going Blonde (Nearly) | My New Hair

Getting my hair done is possibly one of my favourite things to do but I get very nervous to do anything drastic but I took the plunge.

I went Blonde! (nearly)

If you read my post back in June (link here) I had an ombre, balayage technique on the ends of my hair and I loved it so I knew this was the style I would go for again but I wanted to go a bit more dramatic so I surfed the internet for the sort of colour I was going for showed my hairdresser and she worked her magic.

I had Wella Freelight Bleach used to lighten the ends and it came out in different shades and depths to the colour, so some are as blonde as blonde can be whilst other parts are a more caramel bronde shade. Its added so much texture and life into my hair so I absolutely love the colour and I am obsessed with the style and its made me feel so ready for the spring/ summer!

OOTD Moving into Spring

Once Christmas has gone, I am so over winter so buying spring clothes was on my agenda and when I saw these trousers they just screamed me. However, as much as I want it to be spring clothing appropriate its sort of that awkward time of year where it's time to be brighter but I also need serious warmth leading to me pairing with this with the cosiest jumper I own. It also picks out the pink tones in the trousers instead of wearing the typical black jumper. As the trousers are very figure hugging I find tucking in the jumper makes it sort of blend together a bit better but also gives a contrast.

I then accessorised with rose gold as again it picks out the pink colours, the earrings are just basic hoops which I used to not be a big fan of but now I am obsessed, the watch is a brown leather with a rose gold face and I just cannot wait to wear it with a tan as I think that would look so good.

Trousers - Primark - £7
Jumper - Newlook - £7.99
Watch - Newlook

Lipstick - MAC Mehr

January Favourites

Usually I am the one to say 'where did the month go' but seriously I think most people can't wait to see the back of January as nothing really happens, however, February is hopefully going to have a lot more going on but I did have a lot of favourites due to trying a lot after the Christmas period.

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette - I had been eyeing up this palette for a while as it's filled with gorgeous warm shades plus I had heard it had amazing quality for the affordable price of £18 which works out to less than £2 per shade! My personal favourites are the first 3 in the bottom row as you will know if you have read my blog before the obsession with golds and oranges is real. The longevity is also so good and I don't think I have used anything else since getting it.

L'Oreal True Match Powder - I had always sworn by Rimmel Stay Matte Powder so had never really branched out but recently I had noticed it becoming quite cakey and needed reapplying quite often so this has become my new obsession as it doesn't make my skin too matte but keeps my makeup on all day, it also matches my skin tone perfectly as usually, i need translucent to prevent looking orange.

Benefit Dandelion Blusher - I received this for Christmas and it's the perfect colour for my skin tone to look naturally blushed and also has no shimmer which I hate in a Blusher. This is only the sample size but I will definitely be buying the full size when it runs out.

MAC Russian Red - This was another lovely Christmas present which I have worn time and time again since Christmas day as it's a lovely colour for winter and is one of those lipsticks I can put on if I feel a bit rubbish or my makeup doesn't look the best. The only thing some people might not like as much is the fact it needs reapplying quite often but its such a lovely colour it hasn't phased me.

New look Rose Gold Watch - I have never been a watch sort of person but I had seen so many pretty OOTD's and Instagram pictures of people with a rose gold watch and I just longed for one, so when I saw this I fell in love and thought even if it ended up as an item in the background of a photo it's too pretty to say no but I have actually worn it and a serious watch convert if that's a thing :')

Collab Dry Shampoo - I have been meaning to pick this up for a while as it's invisible and it is one of the most annoying things when the white powder residue just won't go but it seems to work miracles, it's so lightweight but also can make even my third day hair look freshly washed.

Lee Stafford Chopstick Curler - I had a lot of questions on Snapchat (@ktlou_99) how I did my crazy curly hair and it was this, and I love it! To start with I wasn't sure if it suited me or I was just rocking the 80's but, to be honest whats wrong with a bit of a throwback. The curler was also surprisingly affordable at £19 and well worth it as I have been doing this hairstyle on a daily basis.

Calm- This is a book that essentially does as it says. I saw this on sale and picked it up on a whim to get motivated and stress less as my anxiety has been incredibly high and I think it works, it creates a positive outlook on life and ways to distract the mind from anything that might be causing anxiety.

Motivation

"She Believed She Could So She Did"

Recently I hit a brick wall, I just seemed to be stuck, bobbing along with nothing reaching the next level leading to being incredibly unmotivated, some may say its the January blues but to be honest I just couldn't be bothered as the more work that mounted up the more stress, the more anxiety, so a serious need to get some organisation in my life was very much needed and just start the amount of tasks I had to do and now I feel I am back on top of it.

Prioritise
After being unmotivated, procrastinating and just generally preferring to watch tv than do my work the best way to get me into the spirit of things was to prioritise my huge list, ditch the unimportant and get all the crap out the way to focus on what was important. Although this meant a few things were left to the back such as my blog due to the long tedious reports and essays I needed to complete I can now reap the benefits as I have so much time instead of cramming everything in the night before and running out of time.

Achievement
So once I got my priorities I actually started to work my way down the list and that feeling of accomplishment as I wrote the last word of an essay or managed to finish the task I had been putting off made me feel even more motivated and productive as the feeling took away all the boredom that I had been feeling while completing it and I just felt better and more in control.

Focus on the Process
I found rather than focusing on the fact that the thing that had to be done would still take me another three hours to complete I focused on the fact I had got the first section done, the second, third, fourth , fifth and then it was done without even realising i had finished everything without thinking of my ever growing list that would take me forever and ever.

Take Breaks & Have fun
This I found most important as within my list I had fun things I had to do that weren't my priorities such as putting off going to get my eyebrows waxed it still needed to be done but was a heck of a lot more enjoyable than sitting at a computer screen  or staring at a blank piece of paper for days when I didn't know what to write but also breaking up the boring essays with more fun things that still had a deadline such as filming for my media production and editing which I really enjoy doing despite it being towards my very stressful A Levels.

What keeps you motivated?

Top 5 Products of 2016

This post might be coming a tiny bit late seen as I'm still talking about last year but I do love favourites post so couldn't miss out and not write about what I have been loving. Also, I really hope you don't mind the worse quality photos, my proper camera will be resuming next week. So now that's out the way I will begin.
Benefit Hoola - I discovered this in the summer and yes I am incredibly late to the party but I so get why everyone loves it, I wasn't sure if it would be too muddy or too orange to start with as there's only one shade available but it works wonders for a lovely natural bronzed contour. It also blends effortlessly.

MAC Mehr - If you are an avid reader of my blog or know me in person then you will know this colour is what's on my lips on a daily basis, I have been using it since I bought it in April and is my most worn lipstick from MAC and even my whole collection. The colour is a more on the pink side of a pinky brown nude and lasts forever on the lips whilst the matte formula isn't drying.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser- I use this a primer after moisturiser and before foundation and I find it gives my skin a more matte feel and even base for my foundation, it also makes my makeup look more flawless as my pores are reduced while it fights spots throughout the day and prevents future ones caused by makeup which I find so helpful as foundations which previously broke me out no longer do due to this.

Yes To Tomatoes Moisturiser - This is another product which really helps reduce my breakouts and I have used it religiously every night, although my skin's not perfect I think this has made a great improvement. I also find it sinks in the skin and isn't too heavy.

OGX Coconut Water - This was my holy grail in the summer and the smell instantly makes me think of the sun but I carried on using it throughout Autumn Winter and it really makes a difference to my dry hair and I can definitely tell the difference when I don't use it.

What were your holy grail 2016 products?

Goodbye 2016 Hello 2017

At the end of last year I did a post about all my goals for the year and what I would like to achieve so as 2016 is now over and we are a week into 2017 I felt like a look back of what I actually did followed by my new goals would be a great start to beginning to blog again this year... 2017! which may I add still can't get used to saying.

Even though 2016 was a bad year as a whole for the world with terrorism, politics, celebrity deaths I had an overall amazing year and somethings happened I am so grateful for but of course there were some downs but what can you expect a lot can change in 365 days and it definitely did but I am only going to look at the positives. I started off last years post with my blogging goals, and personally I think I achieved them, I posted on a regular basis and doubled my bloglovin' followers even if my goal was a bit adventurous.
But onto personal goals I had an amazing time, I got my first job in something I never thought I would ever get into and was sort of by accident. I work for my local radio station at events where every event not only is a job giving experience but great memories and people I work with are some of the nicest people I know. I also began to learn to drive which is going incredibly well at the moment. I also feel like this year I grew into myself becoming more confident and have a lot more drive and organisation to succeed in what I want but also myself. I also went out of my comfort zone going to more places, seeing more people and enjoying myself.
And last but not least! I MET OLLY MURS, I included this as a type of jokey one that I had no idea how it was going to happen but I went to his radio roadshow and got a selfie with him and was definitely a major highlight of the year if you have read my blog for a while you would know my obsession.

But I know this year can be EVEN better so here are my 2017 Goals.

Expand My Blog : By this, I don't necessarily mean followers but just work hard and make it the best it possibly can be.

Time Manage: I am SO bad at this, but this year I need to manage school, work, free time and blogging a lot better so I have less reason to stress and don't neglect myself or those important to me.

Be More Confident: This is something I feel I got better at in 2016, as I don't mean in the sense of public speaking because I would say that doesn't bother me but confident in myself, my opinions and what I like. To be confident enough to say No but also confident enough to go out of my comfort zone and say Yes to opportunities I know will improve my life and well being.

Continue to do a Photo Album: I started this in Summer and although i may have annoyed my family at times constantly wanting photos to capture a memory it's been amazing to look back through in any times I feel sad or just to have all my family gather around and look. I have already completed one which seems perfect timing to start a new one for the new year.

Successfully Complete my A Levels: Now this will need a lot more hardwork than the others as I find it so hard to motivate myself but all I need to think is it is only 6 months then I will never have to do this amount of revision again (hopefully) And as my last year at school I want to look back happily not 'I wish I had tried harder'

Get an Apprenticeship: I feel like this is also one I will have to work hard for to 'prove myself' but it's something i am really hopeful for in 2017

Pass My Driving Test: I have done about 4 months of weekly lessons and just cannot wait to pass for more freedom and I just can't wait.

Met Olly Murs Again: Ok maybe this is asking for a bit too much
